UX/UI Analysis
User Experience and User Interface Analysis of the iOS App Itemind
ABSTRACT
Application success is highly dependent on the number of respondents who choose to download the application and is further filtered down to those who choose to utilize the product. In addition, individuals avoid dealing with finances due to informational overload. This study was conducted in order to understand how respondents evaluate the onboarding process of a financial-tax application on an iOS platform, for the intentions of future optimizations. This study is qualitative in nature, gathered from 20 interviewees using convenience sampling. The participants used a clickable prototype of the financial application on an iPhone to replicate the user experience of a financial accounting mobile application. The application was assessed on an iPhone to mimic the on-boarding process and normal user experience of using the tax-accounting application. The participants were then interviewed about their experience including: 5 demographic questions, 19 questions from the Post-Study System Usability Questionnaire (PSSUQ) (Fruhling, 2005), and 10 qualitative questions that were specific to the application. The interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed for keywords and sentiment using NVIVO Version 11. The results indicated were specific to a mature white male demographic. The financial based accountant application was overall useful particularly in terms of information quality, with the weakest component being the user interface. The primary value propositions for use were cost and financial goals.
